Camphor oil is a natural essential oil derived from the wood of camphor trees (Cinnamomum camphora) and processed by steam distillation. It has a strong, distinctive aroma and is commonly used for its various therapeutic properties. This natural essential oil is typically used for its anti-inflammatory properties and is commonly found in topical formulations, like ointments, liniments, and pain relief patches.
It has been known to reduce chronic muscle and joint pain over long periods. Camphor’s therapeutic properties work by numbing and cooling nerve endings and then warming the painful area to increase the circulation of stiff joints and muscles. It is one of the main active ingredients you can find in our KENZEN COOL PADS. You can also find camphor oil in our other pain relief products, like KENZEN HOT PADS and SATOHAP PAIN RELIEVING PLASTER.
Sato Pharmaceutical’s KENZEN COOL PADS are pain relief cool patches designed to provide localised pain relief through the skin. They typically contain active ingredients that are absorbed through the skin, targeting pain at the site of application. The active ingredients in our pain relief patches include camphor, menthol, and eucalyptus, which alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and provide a cooling sensation in the area where it is applied.
When the pain relief patch is applied to the skin, the active ingredients are released from the patch and gradually absorbed through the skin’s layers. This allows the ingredients to reach the underlying tissues and nerves that are causing the pain.
Once absorbed, the active ingredients interact with receptors in the skin and underlying tissues. For instance, camphor oil has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. It can stimulate nerve endings, creating a sensation that distracts from the pain and provides a cooling effect.
Applying a pain relief cool patch correctly is essential to ensure its effectiveness and avoid any adverse reactions. Here’s a general guideline for applying a pain relief cool patch:
If you have sensitive skin, make sure to ask a doctor or pharmacist in Singapore if it is safe for you to use a pain relief patch. For those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking maintenance medications, it’s also important that you consult your doctor before use.
Using pain relief patches daily should be done under the guidance of a healthcare professional in Singapore. While some patches are designed for continuous use, prolonged application might lead to skin irritation or overuse of active ingredients. It’s important to consult a doctor to determine if daily use is safe and appropriate for your specific condition.
The best place for a pain relief patch depends on the type of pain and the patch’s active ingredients. Generally, patches are applied directly over the painful area, such as the back, shoulder, or joints. However, avoid applying the pain relief cool patches in bony areas or areas with sensitive skin.
The duration of patch application varies among products. Most patches are worn for a few hours to provide sustained relief. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for application time, which is typically around 6-8 hours. Remove the patch as instructed to avoid skin irritation or prolonged exposure to active ingredients.
It’s recommended that you put on the pain relief patch after showering to ensure its efficacy. Applying the patch to clean, dry skin helps maintain its adhesion and effectiveness throughout its recommended wear time. If you accidentally get the patch wet during showering, it’s advisable to replace it with a fresh one to ensure consistent pain relief.
Avoid applying pain relief patches to sensitive, broken, or irritated skin. Additionally, avoid areas with excessive body hair, as adhesion might be compromised. Never place a patch near the eyes, mouth, genitals, or other mucous membranes. If you’re uncertain about the appropriate placement, consult your healthcare provider or refer to the patch’s instructions for guidance.
